Follow the Cycle Stage Where the Washer Actually Fails
A washer that will not finish a cycle is different from one that drains but will not spin, or spins but will not agitate. The field cases preserve those distinctions.

GE UltraFresh Washer Leaks Only on Long or Heavy Cycles
A GE UltraFresh-type washer leaked only on long or heavy cycles. Confirmed branches included the dispenser, vent damper and dispenser hose.
Details that prevent a false match
Record the exact cycle stage, whether water remains, the load condition, the sound and whether the basket can move normally with power disconnected. A wet-load vibration can point down a different path than an empty-machine vibration.
The same symptom can have a different cause. Model-specific drive design and the sequence of events matter more than a generic list of parts.
What to capture for a useful comparison
- Full model number and exact displayed code.
- Cycle selected and the point where operation stops.
- Whether the tub drains, tumbles, agitates and spins.
- Load size, load type and whether the result changes empty.
- Parts already replaced and what changed afterward.
Safety: disconnect power and water before any physical inspection. Do not bypass the lid or door lock, and do not reach into a powered machine.
A repair that did not follow the obvious path
