The LG tE Error Led to a Broken Connector and Previously Spliced Wires
The sensor itself was not the only suspect. At the thermistor connection, the technician found earlier repair tape and a connector broken in half.
Why tE did not identify a failed sensor by itself
A control can report a thermistor-circuit problem when the sensor is out of range, but also when a connector or wire opens the same circuit. In this case, the physical wiring damage was visible before a new thermistor or board was proven necessary.
A similar symptom can have a different cause on another washer. The exact error, model, sensor reading, harness continuity and board input all matter.
What the earlier field experience added
Another technician described an LG washer in which both thermistor wires were broken. That earlier case made the connection a high-value inspection point here, but it did not replace verification on the current machine.
The current technician found that someone had already spliced the area and wrapped it heavily with tape. The proposed repair was to restore the conductors and add enough length that normal vibration would not pull directly on the connection.
What remained unconfirmed
The conversation ended while the wiring was being extended. It did not include the exact model, a thermistor resistance measurement or a completed-cycle result. The page therefore supports wiring inspection before parts replacement, not a universal diagnosis for every LG thermistor error.
