Maximum Spin Worked in Test, but the Real Cycle Jerked and Showed Sd

That difference matters: a component can pass a short service action yet fail under the timing, load or feedback conditions of a normal program.

What had already been ruled down

  • The WTW8000BW0 could spin at maximum speed in the service test.
  • During a real spin cycle it jerked and displayed Sd.
  • A used control board and the Hall sensor had already been replaced.
  • The basket area had been removed and reported clean.

The same symptom can have a different cause on another washer. This case is valuable because the service test did not reproduce the loaded-cycle failure.

The underside drive and shifter area checked after Sd appeared only during a normal loaded cycle.

The basket area reported clean after prior disassembly, leaving control, shifter, motor and wiring branches open.

Why no single part was proved

A shifter that did not fully engage was proposed first, then reconsidered because the machine did spin in test. The author later kept three possibilities open: an intermittent motor problem, a questionable used board, or the circuit between the Hall sensor and board.

None of those branches had a reported replacement result. The Sd display therefore should not be rewritten as a confirmed shifter or board failure.

What a technician should compare

  1. Compare empty service-test behavior with a normal loaded cycle.
  2. Record when the jerking begins and whether the drive fully changes state.
  3. Verify shifter engagement, motor behavior and feedback wiring for the exact model.
  4. Treat a used replacement board as an unproved variable rather than a known-good control.
Mechanical and electrical safety: disconnect power before inspecting the drive system. Do not run the washer with guards removed or reach near a moving basket.
