The Washer Looked Dead, but the Main Board Was Not Replaced
The first suspicion was a failed board. The machine started after an oxidized contact at the control panel was cleaned.
Why a dark panel can mislead the diagnosis
A user interface can remain dark when the main control has failed, but it can also lose its low-voltage supply or communication through a connector. In this case, an experienced technician suggested checking the 5 VDC path from the board to the panel before ordering the board.
A similar symptom can have a different cause on another washer. The outlet, filter, harness, door system, user interface and main control can all interrupt startup.
What the successful action proved
The panel contact was found oxidized and cleaned. The technician then explicitly reported that the washer started. That before-and-after result supports the contact as the immediate interruption in this machine; it does not prove that cleaning is a durable repair for every corroded connector.
What should be recorded before parts are ordered
- Whether the outlet powers another known-good load.
- Whether any indicator, sound or relay response appears.
- Whether the failure followed moisture, vibration or prior service.
- The full model and every part already considered or replaced.
The original thread did not identify the washer model or report a long-term follow-up, so this is a confirmed restart with limited model applicability.
