The Broil Element Glowed During Bake as E2 F3 Appeared

The oven also reportedly entered self-clean without being asked. That is an unsafe control pattern, not a situation for repeated trial cycles.

What made this more than a sensor guess

  • E2 F3 accompanied an overtemperature complaint.
  • The oven reportedly entered self-clean on its own.
  • The broil element operated during bake.
  • The bake element did not operate.
  • The sensor was measured while the oven was near 300°F.

The same symptom can have a different cause on another oven. The abnormal element command must be separated from whether the sensor reports temperature correctly.

Why the sensor reading was incomplete

A resistance value has meaning only when compared with the specified temperature table. The discussion did not preserve the number or a cold reference reading. The glowing broil element during bake therefore kept a stuck relay or control-output fault under suspicion.

What qualified service should establish

  1. Stop further heating cycles and record the complete model.
  2. Compare the sensor at known temperatures with its model chart.
  3. Verify which output is commanded and which relay remains closed.
  4. Inspect the bake circuit separately from the uncontrolled broil circuit.
Overheat and fire safety: stop using the oven and switch off its circuit if an element stays on in the wrong mode or self-clean starts unexpectedly. Do not test it energized as a homeowner.
