tE1 Stayed After the Thermistor, Thermostat and Board Were Replaced

The exhaust was clean and the measured circuit was about 10 kΩ. The failed parts sequence shifted attention from components to signal integrity and wiring.

What the failed replacements proved

  • The dryer displayed tE1.
  • The thermistor, thermostat and control board had been replaced.
  • The same code remained afterward.
  • The duct was reported clean.
  • A resistance reading of about 10 kΩ was reported.

The same symptom can have a different cause on another dryer. A plausible resistance reading at one point does not prove that the signal reaches the control continuously.

Why the harness became the next branch

Another technician described a similar repair in which a partially broken wire removed the thermistor signal. That experience did not confirm the current cause, but it supplied a useful distinction: test the sensor circuit at the board and while inspecting likely flex points, not only at the sensor terminals.

A more precise next test

  1. Obtain the full model and correct thermistor temperature chart.
  2. Compare the reading at the sensor with the reading at the control connector.
  3. Inspect terminals and flex points for intermittent opens.
  4. Verify the replacement board and connectors before changing another part.
Electrical safety: disconnect power before harness testing. Do not probe an energized dryer control or bypass temperature-protection devices.
