The Dryer Stopped After 15 Minutes, Waited About 7, Then Restarted

The next run lasted only 8–10 minutes before the pattern repeated. Removing the vent did not change it.

Why the cooldown interval mattered

A repeatable restart after several minutes resembles a temperature-dependent contact or overload resetting after it cools. The exact distinction was that the entire dryer stopped, not merely the heater cycling off.

A similar symptom can have a different cause on another laundry center. Supply loss, timer contacts, motor overload, wiring and model-specific controls can all interrupt the complete machine.

What the failed thermostat attempt did not prove

The owner had replaced a thermostat without changing the complaint. Both old and new devices showed continuity when cold, but that does not establish their switching temperatures. Technicians also noted that this model's thermostats interrupt heat rather than the whole motor circuit.

A dragging or overheating motor could open internally, cool for several minutes and restart.

The technician ended the service before either branch was measured, so the case remains a documented symptom pattern rather than a completed repair.

Fire and electrical safety: stop using a dryer that repeatedly shuts down or smells hot. Do not bypass a thermostat or motor overload, and do not probe the timer live; qualified service must observe the interruption safely.
