Why a legitimate replacement can look different

A superseding motor can consolidate several older assemblies and use a revised connector, harness adapter or terminal map. Physical fit does not prove that the original terminal positions carry the same functions.

A similar symptom can have a different cause on another dryer. A motor that will not run after replacement can reflect wiring, the replacement part, the start circuit or the original diagnosis.

What resolved the documentation problem

A source-photo label identified the replacement motor as W10410892. The discussion then located instruction sheet W10408722 Rev B after a generic service manual did not show the needed replacement layout. The technician accepted that document as the missing reference.

The transferable parts rule

Record the removed part number, the replacement part number, every suffix or revision and the sheet packaged with the new motor. If they conflict, stop and obtain manufacturer parts support before energizing the dryer.
